To learn if an investigational drug (BIIB017, also known as peginterferon beta-1a) is safe and effective for children with RMS.
The investigational drug
BIIB017 is a polyethylene glycol (PEG; PEGylated) form of interferon (IFN) β-1a. The mechanism of action of BIIB017 in MS is not currently fully understood, but is thought to work by reducing the inflammation caused by MS, which may potentially slow the progression of the condition and help to prevent relapses.
